Prof. Wahid Bux Shaikh joined the college in 1978 as lecturer of English and retired from college in 2010 as Professor and Head of the Department of English.

Wahid Bux Sahib was born on 1 August 1953 at Drib Mehar Shah in Khairpur Mirs, and got married to Mrs. Zeenat on 28 November 1971. They have 4 children including Fawwad 9322/Latif and Faraz (95 entry).

He completed his B.A.(Hons) and M.A. English from Sindh University in 1978. He then obtained an LL.B. degree also from Sindh University in 1981.

Wahid Bux Sahib's entire career has been at Cadet College Petaro. He joined as a lecturer in 1978. After serving the college for 32 years, he took premature retirement in 2010 after having suffered two heart attacks.

Shaikh Sahib was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in 1989, and as full Professor in 2003. He was appointed Head of Department of English the same year.

In addition to his academic activities, Shaikh Sahib served the college in various other capacities as well. He was Officer In Charge of various administrative departments between 1980 and 2009. He was also overall in charge of literary activities. He is the founder of the Fair Price Shop at Petaro, and was given the Best Teacher Award in 2005-2006. He also attended the Interactive Teacher Training Workshop at Islamabad organized by the Petarian Foundation.

Upon his retirement, Prof. J.N.Rahi took over as the Head of Dept of English at Petaro.

While he was still at Petaro, Wahid Bux Sb established the Hayat Educational Welfare Society, which established a girls school and college at Hyderabad called the Hayat Girls' College. Many of the old teachers from Petaro joined this institution as teachers after their retirement. Among those that joined Hayat Girls' College are Prof. M.P. Durrani, Prof. Ramzan Qureshi and Prof. Akhtar Ali.

At present, Shaikh Sb is the President of the Hayat Educational Welfare Society.
