Muhammad Ali Khan Durrani, kit no. 482/Latif House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1963 in 11th class and left the college in 1965 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 19 July 1947 and got married to Mrs. Maimoona Khanum on 29 September 1977. They have 1 daughter - Zainab. The family is settled in Lahore.

Muhammad Ali Khan Durrani is a very likeable personality and a very humble person. He was best known at Petaro for the tilawat-e-Qur'an-Pak every morning during the Assembly. In recent years when the ex-cadets assembled at the Convention (2004) and the Golden Jubilee Celebrations (2007), he reminded all Petarians of this great gift by reciting the Qur'an at the Assembly on both of these occasions.

After Petaro, he joined UET, Lahore, and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. In later years, he went on to acquire expertise in corrosion control and attending courses in Pakistan and Canada.

His entire professional career of nearly 34 years has been with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd. His last assignment was as General Manager, Corrosion Control before his retirement in 2009. In previous years, he was Chief Engineer from 2001-2006, during which period he successfully got gas losses reduced from 9.8% to 6.5%. During his earlier years, he designed and supervised construction and operation of corrosion control system of SNGPL through installation of impressed current system and effective coating of 50,000 km of pipelines of 1" to 36" diameter.

During his tenure with SNGPL, he specialized in Distribution and Transmission Corrosion Control Engineering, Distribution Development & Construction Engineering. He attained challenging positions in higher management and assisted SGS - a Swiss based company - for conducting technical audit of SSGC (Sui Southern Gas Company) in 2008.

He is a Member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (USA), Member of the Institute of Engineers Pakistan, and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Pakistan.
