Muhammad Nashat Raffi, kit no. 426/Ayub House joined Cadet College Petaro in 1963 in 9th Class and left the college in 1967 after completing his Intermediate.

He was born on 7 November 1949 at Lahore and got married to Mrs. Samina on 23 March 1978. They have three children - Mahreen, Shaharyar and Hina.

Nashat Raffi got his early education in Lahore prior to joining Cadet College Petaro. He excelled in sports, and was a member of the Famous Forties of 1966. He was a member and colour holder of the College Shooting and Hockey teams.

After leaving Petaro, Nashat Raffi joined Pakistan Navy in 1968 and served in the Special Services Group (SSG) Branch. In later years, he even commanded the SSG Branch.

He is the first free-faller (skydiver) and the first Jump-master of the Pakistan Navy. He is also the first Instructor of Pakistan Navy posted at Cherat (base of the Pakistan Army SSG). He commanded several Pakistan Navy ships, missile boats, squadrons and establishments.

In 1993, Capt.PN Nashat Raffi was appointed as the Naval Attaché of Pakistan in Washington DC. Upon his return in 1996, he was given the appointment as the Commandant of the Naval Academy. Two years later, he moved to Islamabad to attend the ND Course at the National Defence College. As a Commodore, he was then appointed as DS/Ag CI ND Wing at the National Defence University, Islamabad.

Having served the Pakistan Navy for 35 years with honour and dignity, Rear Admiral Nashat Raffi retired in 2004 at the age of 55. In recognition of his meritorious services, the USA government gave him the Legion of Merit Award, while the Pakistan government conferred on him the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).

After his retirement from the Navy, the Government of Pakistan appointed him as Member, Federal Public Service Commission in Islamabad for a period of 3 years with the status of a Minister of State.

He is settled in Bani Gala near Islamabad. His eldest daughter Mahreen is married and has two sons. His son Shaharyar is a corporate lawyer while his younger daughter Hina is also studying for her law degree.
